Jim credits HeartStrings’ success to fast turnaround, exceptional customer care and an element crucial in today’s economy: “Retailers don’t have to buy any inventory from us,” he says.
“They buy samples, customers place orders based on those samples and we ship the orders 24 hours later. That means you’re never stuck with a color that doesn’t sell and the best-selling items are always in stock.” HeartStrings carries about 2,500 SKUs that fall into three categories: jewelry, embroidered goods and other engraved gifts (soap, candles, acrylic home accessories); 100 more will be added this January. “We’re always coming up with new natural materials to work with,” says Jim, who says their “chocolate copper” jewelry is a big seller. “It’s a dark brown coated copper; when engraved, the bright copper shows through.” |
